Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.

Health Benefits of Walking

You carry your own body weight when you walk. This is known as weight-bearing exercise. Some of the benefits include:

  • increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness
  • reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
  • improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes
  • stronger bones and improved balance
  • increased muscle strength and endurance
  • reduced body fat

Senior Health Walks

Seniors Health Walks are open to anyone age 60+ of any fitness level. It is a great way to meet new friends whilst keeping active.

Location: Meet at Melton Country Park by the cafe.
Time: Thursday 13:30-14:30

Long Clawson Health Walks

This is a friendly and social walking group. They often split into smaller groups that will walk different distances. They also have access to the village hall afterwards where they have a hot drink and a chat after (when COVID restrictions allow).

Unlock Your You, Talk & Walk Groups

Unlock Your You are Mental Health Initial Response Unit, providing mental health and wellbeing support in Melton. The Talk & Walk Groups are open to anyone who would benefit from getting outdoors and talking with like-minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment.

When: Mondays 12pm,Thursdays 6pm, Saturday 11am

Nordic Walking

Beginner's Nordic Walking is suitable for all. Regular nordic walks are suitable for those who already know how to Nordic walk. Lessons can be arranged, so get in touch prior to attending.

Time: Every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of month. Beginner walks 13:15-14:00. Regular walks 14:00-15:00
Cost: Beginner is FREE. Regular is £3
