Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.
Health Benefits of Walking
You carry your own body weight when you walk. This is known as weight-bearing exercise. Some of the benefits include:
- increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness
- reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
- improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes
- stronger bones and improved balance
- increased muscle strength and endurance
- reduced body fat

Long Clawson Health Walks (Walk Together Group*) |
This is a friendly and social beginner friendly walking group. They often split into smaller groups that will walk different distances. Walks last approximately 60 minutes. They also have access to the village hall afterwards where they have a hot drink and a chat after. |

Unlock Your You, are Mental Health Initial Response Unit, providing mental health and wellbeing support in Melton. The Talk & Walk Groups are open to anyone who would benefit from getting outdoors and talking with like-minded people in a friendly and relaxed environment. |

Melton Mowbray Ramblers |
Our groups help local people enjoy walking and protect the places we all love to walk. We walk along public footpaths across the Melton Borough and throughout the year. The walks range from 4 miles to 10 miles. |
The walks occur in different locations across the Melton Borough, often on Friday and Saturday mornings, with the occasional Sunday walks. The walks are planned on a monthly basis. |

Walk Together is a physical activity initiative offering a regular programme of free, sociable, and accessible group walks within Leicestershire led by trained volunteer walk leaders. Walk Together is coordinated, developed and delivered by a countywide partnership of Leicestershire Local Authorities and Leicester-shire & Rutland Sport.
