Brooksby Melton College played host to this year's first School Games Y5/6 Football Competition on Monday 28 September, the competition was organised by the Mansfield Town FC Academy which is based at the College, the academy is for dedicated young players who want to continue playing at a high level whilst furthering their academic education. Both the girls competition and boys competition were successful with the winners of the boys competition being Bottesford A team, after going through to the final to play Frisby the score at the end of the full time was 0-0, going into extra time Bottesford managed a goal meaning they took home the winners shield and medals sponsored by Holwell Sports Football Club. The boy's Spirit of the Games winner was Brownlow B for showing good sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

The girl's final was between Bottesford A and Redmile, however again after the full time horn had sounded the score was 0-0, seeing the game go into extra-time. Bottesford managed to pinch the win with a goal in the last couple of minutes, meaning that Bottesford A also won the girls competition, taking home the Asfordby Amateurs Ladies and Girls FC sponsored shields. The girl's spirit of the games winner was Old Dalby, showing good respect during and after every game.
